Innovative, airy bamboo construction, artesanal finishes and artistic details create a charming and romantic atmosphere. Located high on a dune, Sabambugi offers one guest bungalow with two independent suites. Both suites offer expansive ocean views and constant sea breezes.
Access to the accommodations is by extensive stairs on the dune and may not be appropriate for persons with physical mobility limitations.
Occuping the entire upper floor, with 37 square meters of privacy, the suite offers:
Occuping the entire lower floor, with 32 square meters of privacy, the suite offers:
Our Brazilian breakfast combines a variety of breads, cheeses, fruits and more -- prepared by your hosts and ready at the hour you request in the main lodge. Also constructed with bamboo, the main lodge is located a discreet thirty meters from the guest bungalow and features a large varanda and social area with free wifi.
Sagi is the southernmost beach on the coast of Rio Grande do Norte. A paradise surrounded by beauty, protected by nature and distance from urban populations, the tranquil and bucolic village has little more than a thousand inhabitants, who live by fishing, subsistance farming and, princibly, tourism.
Sagi also is known for its refined options in regional gastronomy. Restaurants like Ombak, Nativos, Bistro Sagi Iti and Uçá, among others throughout the village, offer high quality regional cuisine.
Beyond its simple and tranquil lifestyle, Sagi has attractions close to the village that are not to be missed:
Rio Guajú - Only three kilometers from the village, a walk along the beach takes you to the state border between Rio Grande do Norte and Paraíba. Here, the Guajú river, surrounded by white sand dunes and preserved mangrove, promises fun and enchantment. All week guides take tourists up the river to explore and take mud baths (that locals claim have therapeutic value).
Rio Cavassú – Only a few meters from Pousada Sabambugi, the Cavassú river encounters the sea. The crystaline waters cut a serpentine design through the white sand beach, creating a photogenic scene best viewed from your private varanda, inviting you for a relaxing swim in its warm waters.
Mata Estrela – The municipal of Baía Formosa includes the largest and best preserved area of Brazilian Atlantic Forest in Rio Grande do Norte. The exuberant landscape composed of large trees, vines and lakes can be explored by guided hikes along its trails.
"Coca-Cola" lake – an attractive alternative for those who like more physical exercise. Lake Araraquara, within the Mata Estrela reserve, is better known as "Coca-Cola" because of its colored water, created by the natural decomposition of fallen leaves. The 5 km hike to the lake is made over trails that reveal other ponds that help to refresh along the way.
How to arrive
From the north (Natal): 4,5km after the Baía Formosa exit (RN-62) on BR-101(S), make a U-turn at the abandoned truck weigh station and continue 3 km on BR-101(N) until the exit for Sagi.
From the south (João Pessoa): on BR-101(N), Sagi is the first exit after the RN/PB state border (3 km beyond the closed truck weigh station).
Upon arriving in Sagi, decend the hill to the center of the village and take a sharp left turn onto Rua Antonia Maria da Conceição. Pousada Sabambugi is 500 meters ahead on the left. Parking is on our grass lawn among the cocunut trees. An alternative entrance to the pousada along the top of the dune for 4x4 vehicles is indicated on our map.
